This site is dedicated to the memory of Alessandro Sapio.

Our father Alessandro Sapio was born in Montella, Italy on November 9th 1937.
He is much loved and will always be remembered by all his friends and family.
While growing up Dad was a mischievous child but had the most wonderful childhood, which was full of adventure, nature, practical learning, but also lots of hard work – we have heard so many wonderful stories, stories that have again been passed on more recently to his grandchildren and each time they are told they become more and more grand.
Dad loved nature and could tell you so many things about trees, plants, animals, most of which were learnt through the experiences of growing up in such a wonderful place with wonderful people.

He moved to Scotland in 1955 and a few years later met Mum in St.Andrews.
After a short time in Scotland, they moved to London and Mum and Dad were soon married.
Over the next few years they became parents, firstly to Michael, then to Salvatore, and a couple of years later to Alessandro (jnr), then lastly to Amanda.

Dad worked as a Diesel Mechanic for most of his life and it always amazed us how, after virtually no formal education, how he could understand the physics and properties of weights, mechanisms, stresses and strains in order to make something work again, perhaps ways to reduce or stop loads or simply to make something from pieces of junk – Dad loved junk!

With 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, he was loved by the whole family and he adored every one of us and we were all so very proud of him.

Dad enjoyed a wonderful and full life, but unfortunately just three years ago, he suffered a massive stroke.
Sadly he passed away peacefully last week surrounded by his family.
He has left so many fond and wonderful memories - he will never be forgotten.

We love you Dad, thank you for everything.
Grazie per tutti, arriverderci e ci vediamo a presto!

xx
